Three words are slowly disappearing from our vocabularies: “apprentice”, “journeyman” and “craftsman”. These three words describe the process a man would take on his way to becoming skilled in a trade.

First of all, we need to “journey” through the Bible.

First of all, we need to “journey” through the Bible, serving as an apprentice under God our Father. We also need to journey through various classes and activities for men, learning from the many master craftsmen in the church.

We then need to pass on the skills we have acquired to others. 2 Timothy 2:2: And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.

Men of God.

As men of God we all need to travel this same path if we expect to succeed as leaders in our home and as craftsman in the church. Many of us may have missed out on having a good Christian father to apprentice under; however all of us need to journey about, learning the skills of being a husband, father and servant of God.

Would you be willing to donate one Saturday morning a month? Join a team of 4–5 men doing various home repairs and projects. Skills are nice, but not necessary. Pick up an application in the 3D areas.
