1. What is the Homework Rating on the DVD Driven Studies?:
Answer: Every DVD driven study is different, and requires different amounts of group participation. Because every group is also different, we have made sure that there are a wide variety of studies that appeal to groups that like a lot or a little homework. As a result, we have created a 4-star system for rating the homework found in each study (See Below). We suggest discussing the homework rating with your group before choosing a study.
1-Star: No homework, only discussion questions
2-Stars: Study guide for notes, questions, and answers that enhances the group time
3-Stars: Study guide with optional daily homework (life application/book reading/devotions/Bible study)
4-Stars: Daily homework required (life application/book reading/devotions/Bible study)
2. How Do I Check-Out a DVD Driven Study?:
Answer: The easiest way to check-out a DVD study is to use our check-out page. A link to this page is located to the right of the DVD Categories under the DVD study section or by clicking HERE. Also, you can check-out DVD studies by contacting Jim Veihl and Andy Clark (See contact info. above). DVD Driven studies can only be checked-out by facilitators of home life groups. Each study includes the VHS/DVDs and leader's guide.
3. How Does My Group Order Study Guides/workbooks for our Checked-Out DVD Driven Study?:
Answer: When you check-out a DVD driven study, you will receive the VHS/DVDs, leader's guide, but the group is responsible for ordering the workbooks that accompany the study. Under each DVD driven study, there are at least one or two links to help with ordering materials. Some DVD studies do not have workbooks, so there will be no link provided. The first link is Order Study Guides, and it will lead you to a new webpage to order the study guides needed for the DVD driven study. Also, there might be a Look Inside link, and it will take you to a sample lesson from the study. We recommend that groups order their study guides together to save on cost/shipping.
4. Can I Check-Out a Non-DVD Driven Study?:
Answer: DVD-driven studies are only available for check-out. The Non-DVD driven studies are affordable and useful beyond home life groups. These studies range from $5-10, and we encourage groups to purchase these on there own. Under each Non-DVD driven study, there are at least one or two links to help order materials. The first link is Order Materials , and it will lead you to a new webpage to order the study. Also, there might be a Look Inside link, and it will allow you to view a sample lesson. It is often good for each member or couple of the group to have a copy of the Non-DVD driven study (It may help enhance the experience). This decision to have multiple copies of the study is up to the group. If your group decides to have multiple copies, we recommend that groups order their study guides together to save on cost/shipping.
5. What If My Home Life Group Wants to Do a Study not Found on the Home Life Groups Website?:
Answer: If for whatever reason your group decides to go through a study not in our library, that is okay. Before starting the study, please contact us (See contact info. at the top of the page) to let us know what it is. We ask you to do this for a few reasons. First, we want to make sure that the study is biblically based and accurate. There are many different studies out there, and we want to make sure the one your group may be using is in alignment with Northside's beliefs. Second, we might buy the study for your group. After we check it out, we may like it and want to add it to our library. Last, we want to know your feedback. We want to know what is touching the hearts of groups, and this will help us as we develop the variety of studies offered on this site.
