This last week The Return, our college age ministry rounded out a teaching series called Made New with something we call The Experiment. The series had been focused on what changes when Jesus becomes Savior and King in our lives. We become members of a new family, we take on a new mindset about life, and a new mission is adopted for our lives.
The Experiment is simply that… an experiment, a testing of our hypothesis that God proves faithful in the moments we step out and trust Him....

Today, we packed up, moved out of camp, and headed for the beach to enjoy a little rest before returning home on Sunday.
Along the way, one of the trailers hauling luggage blew a tire. After repairs and getting back on the road, the other on the trailer blew. It was a minor inconvenience and all arrived safely where we will stay for the next two nights.
The highlight of the day was witnessing the baptisms of three of our teammates in the ocean:...

What a great day of celebration...and sadness. We celebrated the completion of the 7 houses. They're beautiful, and to think that they were each built by unskilled and inexperienced laborers. Each dedication was special and tears were shed for our new Dominican friends, and the need to say goodbye.
On build team 6, the new homeowner shared that his father passed away one month ago today. In tears, he shared how his father would be proud to see that he now has a...

Another amazing day!
The eye clinic doubled its patients and saw 252. The medical clinic saw about 120, and the dental had 68--most needing tooth extractions.
The baseball camp was open for the first time and had 53 kids.
The Princesas outreach to girls has increased each day, with most groups having around 70 girls. Today, they had so many girls that they ran out of crafts and had to improvise. What a great problem to have!
Six of the seven houses are...

Today was nothing short of a miracle from God! If you're following this DR team, then you're probably also following the weather. Forecast here was 90% chance of thunderstorms--all day. Some reports said 100%. So we prepared for an unproductive day on the build sites, potentially setting us back a day to get the projects completed. However, would you believe we had ZERO rain?! Yes, nada! A sprinkle was felt once but that's it.

The team is doing terrific after a first day of hard work! It started raining this afternoon, but didn't keep the 7 build teams from completing the concrete foundations of the new homes. They then draped a tarp over the newly poured foundations to keep the rain off as they dried. We're ready to stand walls tomorrow, as long as it's not raining too much.
The medical team saw 107 patients, while the eye team fitted 113 patients with eyeglasses, and 72...

This morning, our church-wide Dominican Republic mission team of 227 people left to answer the call on their lives to a week of ministry.
At this moment, most of the DR team has arrived, all with safe flights with the remainder arriving tonight and tomorrow. The weather has been great so far and we ask for continued prayers that it would remain clear to maximize our time on the field. Tomorrow, we will start our projects of building homes, offering medical, dental, and...
