“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.”
John 17:20-21

In this verse, Jesus is in the Garden of Gethsemane praying and praying fiercely. This is one of the last things He does before he is taken into custody to be crucified. Other verses say he was praying so fiercely that he was sweating blood. In this particular prayer, we get a glimpse of who Jesus was thinking about. Not only is he praying for those people in his life at that moment (the disciples, for example). he is also praying for YOU!

I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message (v20)

That is us. We believe in Jesus because of the message of those who came before us. What a powerful prayer!

Prayer
God sometimes it feels like I am not thought of but you thought of me from the beginning. You know me and love me anyway. You know more about me than I could ever know about myself. Thank you for providing for me and thank you for this life and Jesus' sacrifice. Amen
