RelationSHIFT: June 21

This week’s readings are based on the “Provide Reality” sermon from the RelationSHIFT series. This season, we want to focus on getting the proper perspective about God and others in order to improve our relationships. Slow down, read the text, and then let it read you.

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 12:19-21 (ESV)

God’s word is very clear about what we are to do with our anger. He wants us to turn it over to Him and not deal with it ourselves. He is the only one truly righteous enough to give judgment as to another’s heart and intent. Instead, God wants us to respond in love. Will you trust God with your feelings of anger and injustice and instead choose love?
