RelationSHIFT: June 6

This week’s readings are based on the “Be Present” sermon from the RelationSHIFT series. This season, we want to focus on the changes or shifts that God wants to make in us in order to improve our relationships. Slow down, read the text, and then let it read you.

“Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.”
Genesis 2:1-3 (NIV)

Humanity was created on day six in the creation story. So, God’s seventh day was actually humanity’s first. That means the first day of humanity’s existence was resting in the presence and relationship of God. Take a moment to reflect on the priorities of your life. Where does resting in the presence of God fall on that list? What needs to change in your life to raise this priority?
