Unsung Heroes: July 21

This week’s readings are based on the Unsung Heroes sermon series. This season, we are looking at some of the lesser-known heroes of the faith, seeing the big impact they had, and understanding how we can learn from their example. Slow down, read the text, and then let it read you.

“I have heard of you, that the Spirit of God is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you.”
Daniel 5:14 (NKJV)

This verse is what the Babylonian king Belshazzar said upon meeting Daniel for the first time. It speaks to Daniel’s godly character and reputation. Pastor and author John Maxwell says that, “Talent is a gift, but character is a choice.” Our character is something we control and our reputation often stems from our character. What can we begin to do today, this week, or this month for our reputation to be first and foremost about our godly character? Let’s ask God for help.

God, we praise and thank You for being an awesome God and the one true God. We ask for Your help in growing and protecting our godly witness and character. We want others to see Your light and Your wisdom in us. We ask this in Jesus’ Name, Amen!
