Unsung Heroes: July 29

This week’s readings are based on the Unsung Heroes sermon series. This season, we are looking at some of the lesser-known heroes of the faith, seeing the big impact they had, and understanding how we can learn from their example. Slow down, read the text, and then let it read you.

This weekend we learned about Philemon and Onesimus.

Yes, my brother, please do me this favor for the Lord’s sake. Give me this encouragement in Christ.
Philemon 1:20

Think about how Paul had a BIG ask of Philemon to do something VERY counterculture by accepting Onesimus as a brother. Jesus consistently throughout His time on earth did things that were against what culture said to do. Is Jesus calling you to do something that might go against what culture tells us? Maybe get rid of social media? Be nice to the neighbor everyone calls weird? Take that one coworker to lunch?
