Join God in Prayer!
We’re joining the Psalmists this month with daily breath prayers designed to keep you in touch with God every day, all day. A breath prayer is brief (no more than you can actually say in a single breath) and easily memorized through repetition. These prayers are designed to help you notice hints of God’s grace in the rhythms of daily life, serving as prompts, cues to call you back to the center of your existence throughout the day.
There will be two regular prayer prompts every day, one at 10:00 a.m., and the other at 4:00 p.m. With the first, you are invited to come alongside the entire church family by offering the text prayer repeatedly between the hours of 10:00 and 4:00. Say the prayer in a way that’s comfortable for you, either mentally or aloud - or both. You may even wish to write it out - it’s very brief - placing it in a conspicuous place as a visual reminder.
The idea here is simple. When life is full, it is important to pause frequently in order to stay connected to God. As you continue to say the prayer throughout the day, it will gradually sink in. Best of all, you will likely begin to notice God’s response as you see how the Spirit is moving in your prayer life.
When you receive the second prompt at 4:00 ask yourself, “How has this little prayer helped me to experience God’s Presence deeply today?” Here, you may wish to keep a written record (a journal) of what you’re discovering as you pray.
It is our deep hope that these prayers will center your day’s thoughts around one important thread from the Psalm of the day, keeping its challenge alive and active in your life every day.
All as we join God in faith’s rich journey!
