ABOUT THE MISSION:
Casas por Cristo relies on the labor and resources of full time staff missionaries, a board of over 100 pastors and community leaders from México, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, and Honduras, and nearly 7,000 annual volunteers from across North America. Through these cross-cultural partnerships, volunteer teams are presented with an amazing opportunity to build a home for a family in need.

In just one week, teams transform an otherwise empty lot into a safe and secure home--complete with cement foundation, electricity, windows and doors. Tues. - Tues. July 2-9, 2024

Volleyball coaches & players: Min. age 20 Capacity:  15

DESCRIPTION:
Volleyball coaches and players will work with GO Ministries' Volleyball to lead a week of sports camp for girls. In addition, the team may help with a GO Ministries work project while the kids are in school.

ABOUT THE MISSION:
GO Ministries partners with local pastors across the island who desire to redeem people, renew their communities, and restore creation. We do this through community development, Kingdom businesses, sports outreach, medical clinics, and church planting.

GO Sports develops international partnerships that result in mutual transformation. We empower local coaches to disciple athletes who influence their community as leaders of the next generation.

Our Sports academies are a platform for our coaches to pour into the next generation of potential leaders with the truth of God’s word. We train Dominicans to be athletes and achieve their dreams, while we dually prepare them with a vocational skill to provide for themselves and their families.

Our new Leadership Development Complex includes two professional and three little league baseball fields, one full-size soccer field and six covered basketball courts and three covered volleyball courts. In addition, we have an incredible 2500-person capacity basketball/volleyball arena for events and tournaments. These facilities are used for camps, clinics, leagues, tournaments, and training for athletes in our full-time academies.

Why sports? As the economy suffers in the Dominican Republic, drug treatment programs take a back seat to simple basics such as food, shelter, and education for the citizens. Helping young people avoid the beginning of a drug habit is essential. When young people stay away from drugs, drug addiction, and trafficking, an entire culture can begin to heal – as these youths grow into adults.

GO Sports utilizes mentorship to develop character in our athletes and encourages them to achieve their dreams, while dually preparing them with a vocational skill that will allow them to provide for themselves and their families.

The team will stay in dormatory-style housing with bunkbeds.  Facilities include running water, showers, flushing toilets, electricity, and a dining hall for meals.
