Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”
John 20:1-2

Fun Fact: Did you know that the stone that would have been in front of Jesus’ tomb would have weighed 1-2 tons. Not only did it weigh an incredible amount but the design of the tomb would have made it impossible for anyone on the inside of the tomb to open it. The round stone sat in a down sloped groove with a stone wall in front of it so it couldn’t fall forward. See link for pictures.’-tomb-2/

Just like the resurrection broke the power of the stone and it rolled away, the resurrection breaks the power of our past. With the help of Jesus we can move heavy stones from our past that feel impossible to move. And Jesus wants to help you move those things that feel heavy to us away from us. Today give Him your past that you might still be holding on to.

God, thank you so so much for sending Jesus and for his resurrection that broke the power of sin in our lives. I pray that moving forward I can and will lean on Jesus for anything I may be struggling with. Your power is amazing and awe-inspiring. I thank you for who you are!

Thank you for sending your son. Amen.
