Unsung Heroes: August 2

This week’s readings are based on the Unsung Heroes sermon series. This season, we are looking at some of the lesser-known heroes of the faith, seeing the big impact they had, and understanding how we can learn from their example. Slow down, read the text, and then let it read you.

“You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.”
Leviticus 19:18 (ESV)

This portion of Scripture shows us that another important aspect of loving our neighbor is not taking vengeance (retaliating for an injury or offense) into our own hands or bearing a grudge against others. Is this an area in which you struggle? God communicates to us several times in Scripture that this is something only He is equipped to do. If you are struggling with anger towards another, take a moment to ask God to help you turn it over to Him.
