Group Description
Adversity is defined as: A state or instance of serious or continued difficulty or misfortune, Merriam Webster Online. All of us have faced, are facing, or will face difficulty or misfortune. But with Jesus we can still thrive and move forward. Want to know how? Join our discussion group where we will share with and support one another while reading and discussing Charles Stanley’s book: Advancing Through Adversity.
Advancing Through Adversity is one of the support groups that are a part of Care Night, which has been designed by the Care Ministry to promote unity and create community. It is our hope that Care Night will provide a place for all those who are hurting and broken to find not only a place where “It is okay to not be okay”, but also a place to heal, move forward, and thrive in relationship with Christ and with one another.

Group Description
Hi, my name is Albert Nordhoff and I lead a Northside Men group on Thursday evenings. I have been a Christian for over 25 years and my wife, Teresa, and I have been members of NCC since 2015. My wife and I have been married for 33 years and have 2 adult children. Our son and daughter both currently live in Georgia. Our daughter and son-in-law just had their first child last year so we are now proud grandparents as well.
I have been attending Northside Men meetings for about 5 years but have just recently had a change in my job that allowed me the time to step in as a leader. The group that I lead is made up of men of different ages and backgrounds, some are newer in their faith and others have been Christians for years. Regardless, we are all still learning and growing in our faith together. We enjoy sharing experiences and laughter as we help each other to become the men that God has called us to be.

I have several hobbies which include golfing, Japanese anime, Superhero & Fantasy Adventure Movies and shows, and die hard fan of The Golden State Warriors.
The purpose of our group is to provide a safe, comfortable, and non-judgement brotherhood for men in any season of life, seeking accountability for their confessed sins and to be a support community for each other as we repent. Our group is very personal, vulnerable, and authentic with a focus on biblical manhood and winning the battle against sexual bondage.

We are Bud and Stacy Wayne. We have attended Northside for 5 years. We have been married for 19 years. We have a total of four kids, two girls ages 7, 10 and two adult kids not living at home. We have a group that we have been meeting with for a while and are open to new members to join. We meet weekly rotating between Tuesdays (1st & 3rd) & Wednesdays (2nd & 4th).
This is our official rollout as a life group through church, so we are still new at this. We encourage folks that are open to joining a group that may not always have it together; like US but want to grow in their faith and dive into the word. Kids are welcome, but we don't have childcare. We do have a basement with lots of toys where kids can play.

Our Life Group has been meeting for a couple years. We are all hungry to learn more about Jesus' character, His plan for our lives, and ways to serve Him. We meet on Wednesday evenings and have pitch-in snacks beforehand while we share praises of what God has done that week. We have studied various topics by well-known speakers, as well as followed some of the Northside topics. We usually have a short video from the speaker, then discuss life applications. We end with prayer time listing people or situations with specific requests. We are empty nesters but would welcome a local couple of any season from the Corydon, Lanesville, New Salisbury, or Palmyra area to join us. I am 50 years old and married to my husband Robb. Although I never had children of my own, Robb has a daughter who is married and we have one grand girl named Maren Jo! We also have lots of fur babies who we treat like children! I have been with UPS for 32 years and work as a Brokerage operations manager with 130 employees who report to me. I love learning and have earned four degrees with the most recent being a Ph.D. in Human Services specializing in Nonprofit Management in 2018. Also, I am working on a Master's of Divinity on-line degree with Regent University! My hobbies include bible study, crochet, cross stitch, and reading. I also love to travel and camp with friends and family. Our group of ladies is very diverse - all ages, married and single, with different religious backgrounds but all growing spiritually in the Lord together! My focus for this group is for women to come together and continue to strengthen their relationship with God through weekly bible study and open discussion with the fellowship of other like-minded women. Hi and thanks for checking out our group! We have attended Northside since 2012. Our hobbies center around the outdoors: swimming, boating, camping, traveling (love the beach!), and more. We don’t have kids yet, but it is in our hearts to start a family in God’s timing. We lost our first child to stillbirth 2 years ago, and have been on our fertility journey for over 5 years now. If you’ve gone through a season of miscarriage or stillbirth our heart goes out to you. We want to create a group where we can share life (ups & downs), grow, and journey through life together. Speaking of groups...we are starting a new Life Group for young married and young family couples! The heart of our group is to open up, be there for, and grow together. We hope to be a place to dive deeper into our relationship with Christ, laugh, and hang out together. Along the way we will discuss studies on books of the Bible, marriage, and life.

Jonathan and Katie have been married for 12 years and have 4 awesome kids aged 4-10. We are originally from Southern Indiana and spent nearly 7 years in Colorado where we developed a love for all things outdoors. We've been through some unexpected challenging seasons together, and by God's grace have come out closer to Him and closer to each other. We would love to walk along side you in your faith journey.
We started this group with Quest 52, and would love to dive into more church-wide, scripture specific, or topical video/book studies. Also, we want to do life with each other, so in addition to regular studies we'll plan for Girls Nights, Guys Nights, Date Night Kid Swaps, Family Game Nights and Cookouts throughout the year.
We also have a heart for encouraging marriages. Paul tells us in Ephesians that the mystery of marriage is profound, and that it refers to Christ and His Church. We want to journey with you to see joy and fulfillment in our marriages by returning to God's pure and simple design, reflecting His love to the world through our love for each other. If you are married, we would love to join in fellowship with you to grow in our relationships with Christ and proactively forge defenses and plans to fight against things that trouble our marriages today (Communication, Raising Children, Finances, Intimacy, In-Law and Family Relationships, Conflict, etc.).
KidCare for 5th grade and under will be available during the Spring Session of onsite groups. The cost is $10 per child and $20 max per family per night.

Group Description
We all know someone in the LGBTQ+ community, but for some of us it is our family member. For Christian families, having a child and/or loved one in the LGBTQ+ community can be lonely. The world tells us that we cannot hold on to our Christian beliefs, and love our LGBTQ+ family member at the same time. That is where this group comes in! Together we will allow God to show us how to build and strengthen our faith, support one another, and most importantly love our LGBTQ+ family member.
LGBTQ+ and the Christian Family is one of the support groups that are a part of Care Night, which has been designed by the Care Ministry to promote unity and create community. It is our hope that Care Night will provide a place for all those who are hurting and broken to find not only a place where “It is okay to not be okay”, but also a place to heal, move forward, and thrive in relationship with Christ and with one another.

Any Season, Interest-Based
Group Description
Hi, my name is Marty and I am starting a new WALKING interest based life group here at Northside. I have attended services here regularly for 9 years. I soaked up a lot from Northside over the years, like a sponge. With this group, I ask God for the opportunity to have God's grace, hope, love and faith pour forth from me to those around me.
I am a sports and recreation enthusiast but I have let sedentary activities take root for much of my free time in recent years. I am a single dad of a 10 year old daughter in 4th grade but I found myself to be living in a state of partial isolation. My hope for this group is to build and strengthen a community of individuals through consistency in exercise, companionship, helping others, and spiritual growth.
The plan is to walk 2, 3, or 4 miles on Tuesday evenings. We will walk primarily at the Kevin Hammersmith Memorial Park walking trail that is behind Northside. Depending on the group's desires, we may rotate locations to other parks or hiking trails. If lighting or weather is an issue, we will walk indoors at the Green Tree Mall or some place similar. Along the way, we will discuss the weekly sermons and life in general, and include prayer.
This group is open to those in all seasons of life. However, because this is an interest based group for walking, please perform a self check that you are healthy for this type of exercise and take the necessary precautions for your well being. Consult your physician or healthcare provider as necessary.
There will be no childcare provided by the group. However, there will be public playgrounds near the walking location that can be utilized by members of the group. Children are welcome to join the walks provided they are capable and do not cause too much distraction to the group's purpose and members.
Take up your cross and follow Jesus.

Men's Group - Tim Montgomery
Wednesdays at 10:00 AM
Online, Men
Group Description
I am Tim Montgomery and live in the Sellersburg area. I am currently a consultant that travels every week Monday through Friday. It is great going to church on Sunday, but I miss connecting with a small group. Obviously, travel makes it very difficult to attend a "traditional" small group. I am excited about starting a virtual small group for individuals in similar circumstances. I am looking forward to connecting with Men in similar circumstances. Sharing our unique trials given life on the road... how God can use us in our circumstances and grow our faith. I am married with three adult children, who are all living on their own (one married). Even though we will be a virtual group, I also look forward to finding some opportunities were we can connect in person.

Group Description
My name is Billy Townsend and I am married with three children and one grandson. I have been attending Northside Christian Church since 2013. I am a graduate of the Reboot Combat Recovery course offered at Northside. I am presently employed with the State of Indiana working at the Work One office in New Albany, as the Disabled Veteran Outreach Program (DVOP) specialist. This new group we are starting is for Active Duty service members, Veterans, and their direct family members (Spouses and Parents). I am excited about this group and really feel that God is leading me and Northside in the direction of bringing veterans together so we can walk with each other through life as we understand the trials and obstacles veterans face daily. Veterans speak a distinct language that only veterans can understand. Veterans can also support and serve our community as a whole to bring that camaraderie that a lot of us miss from our time serving our country.

I am new on staff, having been hired to be the Community Life Pastor here at Northside in May of 2021. I am married and have one daughter who just graduated college. I'm originally from Connecticut and my wife is originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but we most recently arrived from Texas where I served as a Campus Pastor in Lubbock, TX. I'm a huge sports fan and love all things outdoors. We own an RV and enjoy going on camping adventures with friends and family. I am truly a people person and enjoy meeting with and talking to people of all ages, hearing their stories, and learning about what God is doing in their lives. I believe God has a unique plan and purpose for all of us and I love to help people step into their calling and live the full life that God has for each of us. Whether we are in the same stage of life or not, I'd love to have you join this group. I love groups that have different ages, backgrounds, and perspectives.

Group Description
Life change happens best together. As noted, Life Groups have one single purpose: relationships with others in our spiritual journey to Join God and serve one another. We meet on Sunday evenings at 5:30pm at our home, join in a dessert, and discuss the day's message or explore other bible study/topics to grow our faith and support each other. We also enjoy social and service activities with each other and to others in need. Our group is made up of couples who have or soon will enter into retirement. Most have grandchildren, some with blended families, and several who grew up in other parts of the country. We live back in the woods, directly off State Road 60, a few miles north of Hamburg.

We have found a way to join one of our joys in life with the mission of life, making disciples. We also plan to hold several charity tournaments throughout the year, along with monthly and possibly bi-monthly leagues. All are welcome, no matter what season you may be in or your skill level. There are several of us who have 30+ years of experience in this sport and love teaching others about our sport and about how God saved us! Group Description
My wife and I have been married for 27 years and we have twins in high school. We have been attending Northside since 2008. We have too many hobbies but mainly try to enjoy whatever we are doing. This is a new life group that was born out of our existing life group that we have attended for 5 years. We hope this group will be a place where members will come to trust one another, support one another as we experience life together, continually pray for one another, and have each other's best interests at heart. You will find that this group is laid back, and approaches the study from a perspective of life application. This group may find itself playing games, cooking, taking day trips, supporting one another through emotional trials, but most importantly, growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Group Description
My name is Tim Ferree. My wife and I have attended Northside for over 30 years. We raised 3 children at Northside who are now all on their own. Pam teaches 3rd grade at Christian Academy of Indiana. I recently quit teaching after 34 years and am now an International Trainer with the mission organization Discipleship Global. We train how to start Disciple Making Movements using simple, reproducible, biblically-based discipleship tools, most of which were put together by Curtis Sargeant. Millions have come to Christ through the application of these tools.
If you want to grow as a disciple, this group is for you! Come learn how to share the gospel in 3 minutes, how to share your testimony in 3 minutes, how to pray for an hour, how to read the Bible, how to lead a Bible study that reproduces, etc.. These tools are taught in a "hands on" fashion, so come ready to learn and participate. The material repeats about every 40 weeks and can be learned in any order, so it is ok to "pop in and out" as your schedule allows. To join this group, just click the "Join Group" button, fill out the form, and the group leader will follow up soon.
