Northside's Food Pantry helps feed over 5,000 people per year. We need more help not only with food, personal items, and books, but also your time.
The Food Pantry is open twice a week to anyone in need of food. Each person or family is allowed to come once a month to choose items from our Food Pantry shopping list. When available, we can also provide books, baby items, Bibles, and more.
When: Tues & Thur, 5:30pm - 6:30pm. Volunteers should arrive at 5pm.
Where: Midtown Commons, 1423 East Oak Street, New Albany
Come Visit Midtown
Please come and visit our Midtown Commons facility where the Food Pantry is located. We trust that you'll love the atmosphere and setup for the pantry, and agree that this location will serve our families best. Please contact Missy Nash, Outreach Admin Assistant, at 812.542.4070 to schedule a tour.
Interested in Volunteering?
Volunteers are always welcome and needed Tues & Thurs to help run the Food Pantry services. Workers should arrive at 5pm, a half-hour before the Food Pantry opens to help set up. This ministry is a great opportunity for families of all ages to serve together.
The greatest need is for mentors. While other volunteers bag up food for clients, mentors sit down with the client to have a 10 minute conversation and end with prayer. We have found that our clients are very open and willing to talk, and love it when someone is willing to pray for them during this tough time in their life. Training is provided.
Thursday morning Dare to Care
Our 'Dare to Care' team is in need of extra helpers. They go to Dare to Care to pick up food when we are in need and able to buy items from this organization. The truck gets unloaded around 8:00am every Thursday morning at Midtown when volunteers are needed to help get the shelves restocked and organized.
Food and item donations are always welcome. For the book wagon, adults especially enjoy spiritual and mystery books.
To volunteer on Tuesday or Thursday evenings, 5:30-6:30pm, click here or call 812-542-4070 for more information.
Throughout the year, Northside's Food Pantry needs donated non-perishable grocery items that will be donated to local families in need. Once a year we make an additional church-wide appeal to help stock the pantry--especially to help families over the holidays. To help, simply pick up a purple recyclable grocery bag, fill it with grocery items on the attached list, and return it to Northside.
