This week is based on the “Struggle of Anxiousness” sermon from the Saints & Struggles series. We are focusing on how God helps us in the midst of struggles. Slow down, read the text, and then let it read you…
“Then God’s Message came: “Don’t worry, he won’t be your heir; a son from your body will be your heir.” Then he took him outside and said, “Look at the sky. Count the stars. Can you do it? Count your descendants! You’re going to have a big family, Abram!” And he believed! Believed God! God declared him “Set-Right-with-God.”
Genesis 15: 4-6 (MSG)
Slow down and read the passage again. God had promised Abram a big family, and it wasn’t happening in his timeline. He was inside staring at the ceiling worrying about whether or not he would have a legacy. In response, God asked Abram to come outside and count the stars. We are prone to make our lives hyper-focused about ourselves and worry/anxiousness seems to come along with it. In what ways do you tend to be hyper-focused on yourself rather than God’s story/glory? How can refocusing on God’s bigness help with your struggles with worry/anxiety?
