Quest 52: July 13

This week’s devotionals are from the “Preaching of Jesus” series in Mark Moore’s Quest 52. Jesus’s preaching was mind blowing. Crowds came to hear his teaching, his stories were subversive, and his training enabled others to carry out his mission. Slow down, read the text, and then let the text read you.

Have you personally experienced what Jesus said: "No prophet is acceptable in his hometown"? Why do you think that is?

What happens when a church is concerned about spiritual needs and not social justice? What happens when a church is more concerned about social justice than spiritual needs?

What makes a church welcoming to outsiders? What could you do better to make outsiders feel welcome?

On a scale of 1 to 10, how well are you fulfilling these two sides of the Great Commission? What are you convicted about doing to improve in one of these areas?
     1. Sharing the truth about Jesus
     2. Showing the compassion of Jesus
